Infrastructure and culture exist inextricably, as tangled entities. In this video, which was filmed at an abandoned Pow Wow ring near ᐊᔨᑭᓵᑲᐦᐃᑲᐣ Frog Lake Cree First Nation, wildflowers and long grasses have reclaimed the land surrounding the now-derelict buildings. Behind the old security shed, its yellow and pink paint faded by years of elemental exposure, loom several black oil silos. Revenues from leasing the land for industrial infrastructure such as this have funded a new state-of-the-art Pow Wow ring for the Nation. These are the movements of black gold.
